I've been asked this so many times! So let me start from the start?

 

DesignerShala stemmed from a desire to make fashion design courses for beginners accessible and affordable for fashion aspirants. Simple as that. I hail from a small town in the upper hills of Assam where opportunities and knowledge for fashion were limited. I had to struggle and I knew thousands like me struggle even today (Thank god we found each other now, eh?)

 

Thankfully, I was a tough nut to crack regardless of my situation and went on to study at NIFT Mumbai and FIT New York in a unique dual-degree programme for Fashion Design. But the yearning to give back was there. So, in 2016, along with a full-time job as the founder of a fashion label, I started a YouTube channel to help design students kick start their career in fashion designing. Little did I know that I was starting a movement! In the last four years, I've been able to help thousands of students chase their passion for fashion!

After running a fashion label for five years, I decided to up-skill and enrolled at IIMA for their Creative and Cultural Business Programme. It's there that the seed for creating an education learning platform like DesignerShala was sown. Being a Shenomics fellow and a NITI AAYOG Incubatee, I started with DesignerShala during the COVID-19 pandemic to give fashion aspirants a chance to chase their career in fashion designing!
